The Local Area

Restaurants within walking distance:

  • We love going out to eat in Cockfosters. It’s a short walk through the park. Our favourites are Firedog for amazing coffee and breakfast, Kiyoto for sushi, and L’arte Sefood & Grill for delicious seafood and pasta

  • The Cock Inn is a traditional English pub – be sure to go for a filling Sunday roast

  • The Trent Park equestrian center has a lovely café and restaurant which serves amazing breakfasts. If you sit upstairs, you can watch the horses and riders below (kids love this!).

Groceries: you can pick up groceries at Sainsbury’s, which is near Cockfosters station, or Tesco, which is near Oakwood station. We generally order online groceries from Ocado.

Post office: there is a post-office by Cockfosters station inside “Fios Food Center”

Doctors: For minor emergencies (e.g., sprains, broken bones) you can go to Chase Farm Hospital, which is about a 10 minute drive (https://www.royalfree.nhs.uk/our-locations/chase-farm-hospital). For emergencies, you will need to go to Barnet Hospital, which is about a 20 minute drive (https://www.royalfree.nhs.uk/our-locations/barnet-hospital). Please call 111 if you have any questions or doubts about where to go

The local GP is Oakwood Medical, you can register here

Golf: Trent Park is famous for its golf course. You can also check out Enfield Golf Club nearby. There is also a miniature golf course right by the entrance to Trent Park called “Jungle Falls Adventure Golf”.

For kids:

  • There is a playground towards the entrance of Trent Park by Cockfosters behind the café. We love to get an ice cream and play in the park

  • About a 2 minute walk from our house is an animal sanctuary. They have a little playground at the back which is also nice to visit.

  • Rainbow soft play: About a 7 minute drive from Trent Park – it’s a great activity for a rainy day for younger kids. They also have a restaurant and café, as well as a playground outside. You should book ahead of time at https://www.rainbowsoftplay.com/ as they can get quite busy
